Approval Voting is Inexpensive
Approval Voting can be easily handled by existing voting machines
as well as the new breed of electronic machines that are already
rolling out across the country. Unlike systems that require voters
to rank the candidates, Approval Voting does not require large
scale retooling.
As we discussed elsewhere, re-education for Approval Voting is not
only simple but it is less critical in nature. Thus re-education
expense is reasonable and downright cheap compared with other
alternative voting systems that require ranking the candidates
or else assigning various number of points to various candidates.
It is also worth noting that the Approval Voting system never
requires expensive runoff elections. The only ambiguous result
that is possible is an exact tie and that is an exceedingly rare
event that no voting system can avoid.
